Bittornado Help
Here are a few pointers on some of Bittornado's default settings that might come in handy.
BitTornado's default setting (for newer versions, anyway) is to randomly select ports in the 10000 to 60000 range. It's fine to use that setting. In fact, many people recommend using a range like it because some ISPs have begun to block traditional BT ports (6881 to 6889 or 6881-6999). But if you are going to use the default settings, you need to set your router and/or firewall to use the entire 10000 to 60000 port range. (If you followed the firewall guide here, you will have ports 6881 to 6889 open instead.)
If you don't want to use the 10000 to 60000 port range, you'll need to change BitTornado's default settings. To do so, click the "Prefs" link on the right side of the display window. A new window will pop up. On the upper right of it, uncheck the "randomize" box below the "port range" setting boxes, and then change the port ranges to the one you prefer. Note that it says "*These settings will not take effect until the next time you start BitTorrent". Click the "save" button and then click the "cancel" or "finish" button to exit out of the program. Re-start BitTorado to use the port range you've selected. And make sure your router and/or firewalls are set to use the port range you selected.
The forum at www.bittornado.com has a lot
of info about the different settings and features of the client, and it can
help you use BitTorrent more effeciently. Also, it's a good idea to frequently
check for updates to your BitTorrent client. Updated clients can make a big
difference in performance. (As of April 29, the latest "stable"
version of BitTornado is T-0.3.7)
